THE FINAL DAY
27/07/2009

We were up early and ready go boats loaded and ready to move the plan was to meet up at Weymouth for breakfast [this would be a first] the pace was fast as i was re strapped with the padding and tape but even tighter than yesterday, this was working well as the pain was limited to really big jumps with hard landings, we got to Weymouth and the coffee and breakfast was waiting, we had to give the boys a little head start before we got away as the estimated road journey was going to be longer than ours by water,  we got going but the going for the last day was hard we were heading into the wind and waves not the best for damaged ribs or for Sunny with his bruises coming out from hitting the transom yesterday but we pressed on, we came round the headland at Pentlands we could see Pat and the guys waving like mad this made my eye’s fill with tears my emotions were running wild,

entering Lyme Bay 20 miles to go in a straight line, pressing on surfing down waves and then getting back on course was the safest and smoothest ride we could make, with still a lot of low cloud around we couldn’t see Lyme Harbour until we were under 10 miles way we called in to the coast guard and thanked them all for all there help and for putting up with a armature like myself, as we got closer we could see all the people cheering us on, no one will ever know just how this feels inside after all we had been through in the past three weeks it was just a glorious sight, we entered the harbour and as expected

Mike was with camera ready for the action, Sunny passed me the flare ant pulled the cord it was all there the end of the challenge we as a team had fulfilled our expectations and on time to the day, i just couldn’t believe it, all the stress and pain were gone i was just running on adrenalin and pain killers,

looking round for Gina i was desperate to just hold her, this had to be the best feeling in the world, we were all reunited with our families and more so we were all as a team safe and un hurt other than the odd bruise and painful ribs, what a trip, i will post a further blog when my head is back into gear, but i would like to thank everyone that has been involved in any way and the facts are without everyone’s help we could not have done it i will leave it at that for now as i do need to get some rest.
